Thats not the issue with the link though, but the issue that there is no controller boards in use in these displays that allow overclocking through displayport. Or, well, to be more precise the issue is that they are using controller board in the first place. In theory displayport is capable of driving the screen "directly" so if Koreans would be doing displayport only displays all of them should be overclockable with some driver hacking.
Now - returning to the reference design - having a DL-DVI in there is in my opinion waste of resources, as it consumes whole 2 links out of total 6 the GPU's are capable so as soon as you have a DL-DVI in there it cuts down the max number of displays you can have down to 5 from 6. I'm pretty sure that even if reference design would have only displayports there would be sufficient number of non-reference cards which would have all the legacy connectors you desire, like DL- and SL- DVI, HDMI, etc - if nothing else then, for example the Sapphire FleX series.
It's so sad to look at the awesome cards whose potential is castrated by the crappy reference output display connector configuration, for example, Toxic and other 6 GB vRAM cards.
