Honestly I'd rather believe an article written by Ryan Smith than a post that starts out with "rofl".

I would say the samething, but considering how connected I am to all things amd graphics chips... i help sites like

I mostly know what you do but the thing is that the only actual proof and sound reasoning that I've seen/heard has come from Ryan.

Anyways, if you happened to be correct it would mean that GCN 2.0 is a pretty pathetic improvement...

Looks ugly as hell, but if it at least means it will be quieter than the ungodly-loud reference blower fan, I'd be okay with the trade-off. Anyway this isn't enough of a step-up from Tahiti to make me want to wait for its release. I think I'm just gonna get a 2nd 7970 after prices drop a little and crossfire is fixed. 10-15% more performance is nothing to wait for IMO.

Even 15% better perf with 50w less per card would be nice. 10% is a bit pesimistic I think...

The 50W less can be had even if they only gimped their compute sections of the die.

Truth be told, the HD 7790 performs 25% better compared to the HD 7770 while only having a 5w higher TDP, and its compute performance is actually slightly higher than the HD 7850. And lets not forget they kept the same number of ROPs and memory channels, so the potential for high end cards with more ROPs and also more memory bandwidth should be interesting. Architecturally it may be a minor improvement, but results in the end are quite recommendable, so I'm looking forward to what they can achieve with more ROPs, etc on the high-end.

The per core performance is almost identical with the 7770.

And the thing is that the card gets a huge boost from its memory speeds which are leaps and bounds ahead of the 7770.
