I don't know, just my two cents. I don't like to argue others opinions, as everyone has a right to their own, but I will also express mine.

Erm, 8xxx series and 8xxx OEM series are/would be 2 completely different things. We don't know if they're going to show new cards with a 8xxx stciker or with a 9xxx sticker, but since AMD teased Nvidia, we can speculate that any announcement will be about a real new series and not the OEM rebadged cards. At least that's what I think. It wouldn't be logic to hype and tease about 1.5yo cards with a new sticker, since the lulz on them would be LUDICROUS biggrin.gif

^There's always something else 'right around the corner.' And really, who knows just how long it will take for the next gen 20nm GPUs to see the light of day? I doubt many people expected the HD7000 series to have a nearly 2 year shelf life when they launched.

All we have is the here and now, may as well enjoy the ride biggrin.gif

Not unless they come in at $550. I can see it now.

If they do to Nvidia what Sony did to MS in their E3 conference, I'll die of laughter. I really think I'm going to regret getting that 7950 WF3 in a few hours ... unless the new cards aren't available soon...

Plus, they will just be going into my backup rig which rarely gets touched so they won't get much action anyway

You can always mine litecoins with the 8970s and they will pay for themselves in a couple of months...

20nm will be ready for AMD and Nvidia next year in May - June. My predictions.

I know I certainly didn't expect them to last two years. I always bank on GPUs lasting about 14 months. It has only been 15 months since the first 7000 series parts launched, so we're not terribly far behind schedule yet. If cards launch by the end of the year, I'll be happy enough.

Given the small performance increase of the 7000 series at launch time versus the 6000 series, I had opted to skip 7000 series cards in favor of experiencing a bigger jump in performance. Now I feel committed.

$599 is a bit much but if it comes close to GTX780 they cant really sell it for $150 cheaper. This is what happens once someone sets the prices. Much easier to follow them then force them to drop especially since you dont really expect to gain market share with high end GPU.
