Wait wait, I thought the fx 6300 series had 6 cores but had a lot of shared properties in their architecture? I know a lot of people have been saying that the fx 8000 had 4 cores but had a shared architecture so it was shown that way in windows (in sysinfo) . But then people call a core2duo a 2 core cpu. So I have no idea.

You're thinking of core2quad, which was two core2duos but still 4 real cores. FX series has much better "hyperthreading". You can't think of them as complete cores.

FX4xxx = 2 core 4 thread

FX6xxx = 3 core 6 thread

FX8xxx = 4 core 8 thread

Bulldozer is the first major redesign of AMD’s processor architecture since 2003, when the firm launched its K8 processors, and also features two 128-bit FMA-capable FPUs which can be combined into one 256-bit FPU.

This is versus the 4x128-bit FPU's of the Q6600. So compared to the Q6600 the FX 6300 is a Hex-core.

Hmm maybe I'm thinking of CMT instead of CMP in terms of threading "tricks" but I still don't think they're 6 complete cores based on the the sharing of certain functions.

but like I said, the core 2 series also had a lot of sharing properties but people never accused of it not being complete.

an fx 6300 does have 6 real cores but they are integer cores rather then floating point cores.

Be for real guys, a FX 6300 is very much superior to a Q6600. A 2600k must be worse then a q9550?

fx6300 should not bottleneck 650 Ti boost in any circumstance. This is not normal imo. Is anyone else having these issues?

Also I noticed that Cores 3 and 4 are used only by 60-65%

Quote:
- was it a new windows installation?
- what are your ram specs (i.e. 2x4GB 1866Mhz)
- All drivers installed? - Chipset, SATA, etc
- what BIOS version are you running?
- what Video Card driver are you using?

There does seem to be something wrong. Please fill out the info in the quotes, so you can get help.
