I just installed Windows 7 and the performance got A LOT better in BF3. The GPU is utilized more than 95% most of the time and rarely drops below 85%, dunno why tho.
The performance in Windows 8 was horrible, but I have no idea why.

The Win8 installation was fresh.
Ram is in 2x4GB Crucial Spectek 1600Mhz running at 1333mhz for some reason ( does not boot when at 1600 ).
I separately downloaded only graphics and audio drivers.
Bios is not the latest but newer revisions don't offer any improvement for me.
650 ti boost.

the problem is not the fx 6300... in bf3 64 MP fx 6300 have the same power than i5 2500k stock...
bf3 MP uses all 6 cores from fx!

I don't believe that the M5A97 boards have native Windows 8 support. You would probably need to download the proper drivers and put them to USB to install after the windows install, as they might only be the windows 7 ones on the disk

Edited: That board does have native Windows 8 support. So agreed that it's probably a Win 8 issue

For your ram, you would need to load the DOCP profile for the 1600Mhz specs so it sets the proper voltages and timings, you can't just switch it to 1600Mhz without manually changing all the specs (so DOCP is much easier)

As long as your BIOS has support for Piledriver it should be fine. Look up the CPU support list for that board and it will list the latest BIOS that supports the FX 6300.

I would try overclocking it as much as possible (get it to around 4.8) as that will definitely help and also turn down your resolution and some of the settings to make the game run more smoothly.

That's quite a big amount of BS. A FX6300 will roflstomp a Q6600 any day of the week in gaming.

Also, W8 seems like was it... It does crap a lot on some situations, and old games, most of them don't even run at all.

I'd make sure core parking is off. Use find in your registry for
Specify the minimum number of unparked cores/packages allowed
then find next for every other instance. Modify the ValueMax to match the
ValueMin of 0.

I'd disable APM in the BIOS too.

Personally, I use a "high performance" power option under windows as well.

People on Win 8 shouldn't need KB2645594.

1. is your overclock 24-hour stable? if not, go back to stock clockspeed and try playing and see the fps.

2. did you overclock your gpu? turn it back to stock clockspeed and try playing and see the fps.

3. if your ram is running at 1333, go to bios and set ram speed to auto and see if it will automatically go to 1600. If not, change it to 1600.

4. What resolution are you playing? a 650Ti with 1gb vram may not be enough to play BF3 high settings on 1080p

5. basically just do several tests to find a problem before saying your cpu is horrible

Hello guys.
Sorry to wake up your topic.

But i had to share.
I have an Phenom II x4 945 3.0@ 3.6 with a gigabyte HD 7850 2gb OC (stock OC 975/1200).

I have bottleneck every day of the week with ultra (0xMSAA/deffered AA), the most awesome cases i have seen was 60% GPU usages, but normally is between 75-99%.

I have w8 so i noticed where the problems come.
Not sure if the owner remembers to check task manager after playing BF3, because everytime i leave the game, the origin is always eating 25% of CPU Usage, i have to termitate the origin process and start.
For what i'm aware this only happen on w8, which i don't know why.

Sometimes i forget about this, and go play and then a notice a lot of bottleneck and less frames, and when i minimize the game and open the task manager, there i have it, the origin stealing 25% of CPU.

FX-6300 is a decent CPU, its normal to bottleneck a little bit on the BF3 64Player, but those values you mention initially were trully not normal.
Regards men!

I have same experience when im playing dota at my laptop(dual core) I will always end task the rundl32(process) on the taskmanager or else 50% cpu usage without reason causing lagg

off topic sory

bf3 MP uses all 6 cores from fx!

Not really
- it use 6 cores but not .... but usage never goes more than 75%

BF3 fully use 4 cores....

I did test
BF3 MP - FX 6300 4,5GHZ
2 cores - unplayable ---- MAX USAGE : 100%
3 cores - playable - min 35 fps ---- MAX USAGE: 100%
4 cores - playable - min 50 fps ---- MAX USAGE: 100% - avg. 90%
6 cores - playable - min 55 fps ---- MAX USAGE: 75% - avg. 65%

Yes GPU was bottlenecking FX 6300 with 6 cores ... but not whole time...

Have a nice day

Interesting. I had a Dell Inspiron that I installed a new MSI 7850 OC TF on. Ran the Heaven Benchmark on ultimate and got 30fps.

Finished my FX-6300/990FXA-UD3 rev. 4 build about a week later, installed the MSI 7850 OC and ran Heaven Benchmark. FPS dropped to 24fps with the same settings.

I would have thought that with the FX-6300, 1600 DDR3 RAM and the 990FXA-UD3 etc that the fps would be substantially higher.

I'm not sure what the problem is or what I've done wrong.

Seems I'm in the same boat.
