AMD high definition audio driver problem

Thread Starter
I've been spending weeks trying to fix this annoying issue.
Whenever i duplicate the screen, so that my TV has the same image as my monitor (to watch movies) It takes ages to open the playback manager.
I've searched and found a solution to that, which is disabling the AMD high definition driver, but i need that driver in order to get the sound to my TV through the HDMI cable.
Also, first it showed my LG tv listed as "LG Television" in my playback devices, now all of a sudden it's not there anymore and i don't even have an option to set it as my default audio so that i can have sound on my TV.

This needs urgent fixing! But untill then i need a solution so my TV is recognized in the playback devices and will not take 10 minutes to show up after clicking it!

Ugh. I hate AMD drivers... Have you considered using an auxilary cable for the audio? I have HDMI video out to my TV, but I run an optical cable off my sound card to my stereo. The HDMI port on your TV should work in combination with one of the audio imputs back there. This could be a temporary or even a permanent fix. If you have optical connection, well theres your winner. If not you could use something like a 1/8" headphone to L/R component cable.

That may be my only solution, untill the drivers are fixed.
Everytime i want to watch a movie with my GF, the damn drivers are keeping me busy for 15 minutes to get everything working. It's not like there is a standard procedure to do before it works, it's like it makes up it's own mind about detecting the TV or not, as a playback device. Very very annoying.

I will look into the auxilary cable wink.gif thanks for the heads up!

I've had similar audio problems, and believe it or not, updating the graphics drivers solved the problem. For some reason my computer would recognize the HDMI/Digital auido from my tv at all, updated, and viola. This was with the Realtek HD Audio Drivers though, so not sure if it'll fix it. You can also go here and download the "ATI HDMI Audio Device Drivers" and see if that helps, but again that might just be for the Realtek drivers.

Thanks, i've tried that but that didn't work out for me.
My problem isn't folved, but i'm now just using sound directly from my PC over jack plugs instead, this way i don't have to deal with this annoying bug anymore
