Yet Another Video Card Question, Please Help =/

Thread Starter
Okie Dokie, I want to overclock a video card. I have everything for my system picked out but the video card. Case has 2x80mm fans and 2x120mm fans. E6300 I'm gonna OC and I bought a Zalman for it. So.....for the video card...I will consider any of the following....
7950gt
7900gt
7900gs
x1950pro
I believe those are the main options....But anyway I was wondering which was the best choice as far as price/overclockability goes. Thanks for any help. And also....with whatever you recommend....should I buy another Zalman for the GPU?

I'd say a 7950GT, but X1950Pro's got the best price/performance, although I'm not fond of ATi's drivers.

I'm thinking of the 7900gt. Can't I just overclock this and make it go beyond the 7950gt or even the 7900gtx? I'm also thinking of getting the Zalman fan for it as well.

The 1950PRO will out perform any one of them, but alot of times you can find 1950XT on newegg for around the same price, after mail in rebates. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102067

Can you OC the 1950pro just like you can any of the others? I notice most of the 1950 pro's have stock cores at around 600 mhz compared to around 450mhz on the 7900gt's core clock. Say if I could OC the 7900gt 200mhz to 650....you think I would be able to OC with 1950pro 200mhz to 800mhz? This is my first video OC and will be following a guide from this site and have read many posts on doing this. Anyway, let me know, thanks.

I say 7900gt, with a volt mod they OC like gods! Plus its cheaper than most of the others and will perform more than enough for now, untill newer better dx10 cards come out.LOL no you cant get the 1950 to 800 on the core, that would be insane if you could though!

Also, does the Zalman VF900 work with the 1950pro or 1950xt? I know it does with the 7900gt. I hope you say I can OC the 1950pro or 1950xt as much as I could a 7900gt because that would be amazing.

Yes, it works. And the X1950XT will overclock fairly well, and will beat all of those cards at stock also.

Either get a 7600GT or a 7900GS or X1600, you might go to DX10 card in the future, and you will want to.
