Upgrading from 2.1 to Surround (Newbie needs help)

Current Bookshelf Speakers: Dayton Audio B652

Sound Card: Sound Blaster Titanium HD

Subwoofer: Dayton SUB-100 10" 125 Watt

I'm planning to add in: Dayton Audio CCS-33B 3-Way Center along with 2 more Dayton Audio B652 as rears. Im not sure how I would go about this. I'm pretty sure i'd need a receiver for it to handle all these speakers. Are there any receivers or amps you guys would recommend ? ($400 budget).

I got these in mind: http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-NR515-7-2-Channel-Network-Receiver/dp/B0077V88VI

PS. Would I need to change my cable gauge to hook these speakers up if I were to be using a receiver?

Is this for PC or for home theater use? If it's for PC use than I'd just get a $200ish 5.1 receiver just to power the speakers and call it a day. If this is also going to be used for home theater than I'd suggest a Denon receiver (or any receiver really) with Auddesy MultiEQ XT. I"ve heard pretty good things about the 1713: http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-1713-Networking-Receiver-Outputs/dp/B007R8U5W6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1370956143&sr=1-1&keywords=5.1+audyssey

EDIT: Also I'd suggest using a 14gauge wire at minimum, and I usually recommend 12 gauge wire whereever possible. (It's overkill, but hey, this is OCN!)

Denon, Pioneer, Harmon Kardon all make excellent receivers. You dont need much to power your dayton bookshelfs. You can always get a 7.1 receiver so you can add two more bookshelfs down the road.

I use towers for my fronts and bookshelfs for my rears.

What are you using this setup for? home theater, PC, music?

The answer is Yes you will need a receiver. Make sure it has optical audio input, so that can plug into your soundcard. Receivers have many bells and whistles, so you need to just see what is important to you. I am not really interested in 7.1 because nothing really uses it yet and for the money it isnt really worth it yet. I am sure once I build a theater room in my basement I will do it, so I am future proofed.

That is good choice for receiver, but I would look for something used because you can usually get some amazing deals. I got a higher end Pioneer receiver for really cheap because the kid who bought it had no clue how to set it up and just wanted to get some of his money back.

Finally, You dont need to go any larger than 14 gauge speaker wire. Make sure that is is pure copper and dont buy super cheap speaker wire. Monoprice is a great place to get speaker wire
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023902&p_id=2748&seq=1&format=2

I have used Dayton speakers before and they are a good value. I do prefer tower speakers for fronts, but that is my preference.

good luck!
