What kind of tips are you looking for?
Composition, equipment, making $, what to spend your first $2-$3k on?
Here is a thread on astrophotography: http://www.overclock.net/t/1293840/official-the-astrophotography-thread

There are a few stickies on this forum that have a lot of good information.

Creativelive.com has a lot of free video tutorials.

It is good to master your camera etc before upgrading to new equipment.

As for scrap booking, i can't help you there.

Grats on finding photography. It is a great hobby.

Only Sony have dslt cameras, i think.
I got the Panasonic FZ150, and is good in stabilization, raw, sharpness.
But right now, you can get a better deal with a Canon SX50
