My 2500K and 2600K are both good at 4.7GHz but I am beginning to like this 4670K quite a bit so I may just grab a 4770K next.

In comparison, Ivy gave me week long WHEA nightmares while fine tuning the o'c so I really dislike my 2 x 3570K@4.5GHz till now.

I'm getting those now on my 2500k, until i pushed even higher to 1.3. I was hoping 1.26 which is still high but acceptable, 1.3 is just pathetic for my chip.

IBT cooks the hell out of my chip, almost 80'C
prime95 etc seem a lot better around 60'C
Normal usage ie: gaming around 50'C

I'm not overly worried by the temps, I figure they are designed to be more resilient of the heat.
I'll probably still take mine to work this week and delid it though just to see how much difference it makes when overclocking and avoiding it throttling.

Just don't chop your finger off with a razor blade like they joked on a thread here a while back. That was just stupid to do. Yeah but seriously 80 is high. I thought though I read somewhere you don't want to use prime 95 for haswell something about it doesn't work right. Like it will be stable with prime 95 but not actually be stable and crash while your gaming, I was told to use aida 64 instead of prime.

Yeah 80'C is high considering I'm using a decent tower style air cooler but I still don't really trust either IBT or my temp readings at the moment.
Probably gunna leave it stock for a week or two and let everyone else work out the quirks first thumb.gif

Screw the razor lol, got a vice at work... will smash it open with a hammer tongue.gif

For what it is worth of return them. If you really just want to pcie 3.0 just gran a 3770k and put it in your z77 board it would be a bit cheaper and probably yield about the same performace increase.

I completely agree with everyone that has posted to keep it. Your mediocre 2500k is not worth it, although you could totally get insurance on it as well and get a new chip rolleyes.gif

The 4770k will be a nice addition to your rigs... but for a more detailed answer, what sort of games are you playing the most?

In the end, I still vote you keep it. If you are extremely unhappy you could try the hammer and vice delid and go for gold on that. That's my 2cents at least.

The Asus guide recommends to use AIDA64 cos it is up to date with the newer Intel instructions and says that P95 and LinX are NOT recommended tests. I still run them though, LinX load temps can be crazy high. heheh

btw, AIDA64 load temps are a good deal lower (~10-15C) than LinX while real world apps are way lower.
