I have a MacBook Pro8,1 as my daily, I have been dualbooting OS X for work and Ubuntu for daily use but since the 13.04 release in April I've been running strictly Ubuntu on here. I have always noticed that Ubuntu makes my laptop very hot all the time. Is there any way I can underclock this on Ubuntu? Both cores run between 50C and 55C at idle with the fan at 2000RPM.

This laptop is never this hot or loud on OS X so I'm not really sure how to cool it down without some kind of underclocking or maybe undervolting?

Any ideas?
