Well you can expect 4GHz I would say you should be able to expect 4.2GHz you will most likely see 4.3GHz but after that it is def in the air. I would venture to say that at 4.3GHz it should be just as fast or faster than a 4.6GHz 3770K but I don't know that to be fact.

4.4GHz isn't a surprise and neither is 4.5GHz but I wouldn't say that everyone can get there. When you say EXPECT I would expect at least 4.2 if not 4.3. Of course it could be worse or could be better.

They are not panning out to be the easiest processors in the world to tame but we are still kind of new to it and there are a ton of settings involved.

Is it quite normal for temps to be consistently higher or lower on certain cores on your cpu? Or is it just a by product of bad thermal paste application at intel factory?

Yet people dont believe me i can run 4.6ghz 1.27v, And i run prime95 max at 82c

I can run prime95 at 4.6/1.24 with no problems but once i stress with avx it gets too hot. Although i am on air cooling. People tend to not believe that because these are not common results.

That made little sense to me, unless you're using an older version of p95 that isn't using AVX? Then obv the temps in p95 will be very low smile.gif
post #2086 of 3650
Yes, i have two versions, one that uses avx and one that doesn't use avx. The one that uses avx i run for heat testing mostly and the other one for stability for longer periods. I will not be running avx at all, but if in case they will be used for a short period i don't want crashes. Although aida64 still passes even 6 hours of avx stress testing with no throttling. Only prime95 with avx heats up too much, still not crashing. But i don't need to exert that kind of heat forlong periods as i will not be using avx at all, so i'm not letting p95 with avx run for more than 1-2 hours.

The stock ones are very loud indeed. but looking at the performance they are pretty much the same.
I also experienced that after 60 - 70 % of fan speed temps dont make much difference but in my pursuit for the lowest temps possible i run them at max to be sure about max cooling performance.
Yes also a gryphon user. great board for micro atx rig. what case do you use?

I have a 350D, and like most Corsair products it is well made and designed intelligently. It does have some minor flaws, but I can live with them. Overall it allows for good airflow and it has several filters to help slow dust accumulation and aid in cleaning. I haven't had it for a long time, but that technically helps cooling too I suppose.

I really like that it fits two front 140mm fans and they are for the most part unobstructed from pushing air over the entire board and GPU. But yes most closed loop rads have a cooling ceiling that will hit, and for my H100 it is around 1500-1600 rpms with the SP120s. In my experience push/pull, and the rest of the case airflow will have little effect on the overall rad cooling. Although it will keep the rest of your components slightly cooler though.

Well its stable what more can i say, my stock VID is only 0.976v guess i got a great batch there L308B202

Do you want me to post IBT, Linx, PRime95.. we all know it will get hot there, its like a furmark bench for gpus..

So far its like so

4.4Ghz @ 1.154v
4.5ghz @ 1.18v
4.6ghz @ 1.220v
4.7Ghz @ 1.265v (around i didnt test fully, just a quick cinebench and Aida64 stress test)

Now I get nice idle power of 5-10 W with the added benefit of being able to run handbrake (AVX enabled) without the extra 0.1 V...the extra 0.1 V actually makes my overclock unstable (trust me I've tried increasing VCCIN, etc no help - I think its just the nature of my chip and its not temperature - I've delidded and running watercooling - max temp 71 C with IBT).

Anyways - any harm with running manual voltage with c3/6/7 enabled?

Many thanks. I'm running a delidded 4770K on a MVIE

Then dont stress test such apps., its that simple. Even intel said never use such apps with offset/adaptive voltage. If you MUST run those torture tests then run at FIXED voltage, this way it won't overvolt +0.07- 0.1v..

This is how i found out my fixed max adpative voltage in normal scenario.

Well its fast, but in daily usage its around the same, SSD helps a lot.

In games well it ownz all (esp. in BF3, NS2, SeriusSam3, Rift, Hitman A, TR2013,..), now im gpu bottlenecked most of the time.
