Prime95 makes Haswell run too hot? Well that's what a stress test is supposed to do right?
See: FurMark throttling
. Although this is the "maximum stress" you can load on a gfx chip the manufacturers (both AMD and Nvidia) are literally building throttling capabilities into the hardware
to keep GPUs safe under theses unrealistic conditions. At least Intel isn't throttling us back like the GPU manufacturers. Apparently Handbrake encoding with h.264 use AVX2 instructions but doesn't create the heat that P95 does.
In my case, however, I haven't noticed P95, AIDA64, IBT or F@H creating very different temps with my current settings. Odd too, because one of the first things I did @ stock was run IBT and I could swear it peaked ~20C hotter than F@H was getting... maybe I'm just getting delirious from reading so many posts all over the net
