Newbie looking for advice - Silent pump.

As the titel sais, im a total scrub in this area. The only watercooling i've had was my H100 which i wasnt very happy with since the pump was freaking noisy.

Anyways, i wanna get into watercooling and currently looking for advice on a pump that can handle my CPU+GPU+2 Radiators.
Most important factor is that this pump wont break in a year or so and it has to be really quiet as im a silence freak. I'm allready trippin when i hear my GPU under load as i dont play with the sound really loud.

The pump should fit with everything around it (rads, res, block if necessary etc.) should fit in a Corsair 350D.

Thnx in advance and sorry for my crappy english (not my first language).

Someone with more experience can chime in, but I'll tell you what I've researched. The swiftech D5 variant with pwm function is the vest option, I think. That's the one I bought last night, and its supposed to be quiet according to Martin's Liquid Lab. On top of that, it has pwm function so that you can increase/decrease the speed as needed, which will help with sound.

Ye, i was allready looking at a D5 pump (non-pwm) but with a little switch on the back where you can set the speeds. But i read that its only really silent @ speeds 1 - 3, and because there is no way im gonna run the D5 @ speeds where it becomes noisy i dont know if its worth getting.

Too bad i've never heard any of the pumps before, but even after i got my h100 rma'ed i still didnt find it to be quiet.

thnx for ur input tho.

Agreed. Or you can get the swiftech mcp655 vario edition. Basicslly the same thing as the d5 with no difference in performance, it also has the various speed settings so can be optimized for silence.

Oh, and what exactly does a pump top do? Just aesthetics or silence?

Pump tops make the pumps more efficient meaning you could use it at a lower rpm than with a standard top for the same perforamce meaning better acoustics which is what your after. They also look better and have better fitting options. Most d5s have barbs with there tops not g1/4 threads.

Well if silence is an issue, there's always the dual pump option. Use two pumps hooked into the same loop using Y splitters. Then you can run each pump at half what you would normally need them to. That MIGHT get pricey rather fast however.

You could also consider the MCP35x2 which is essentially what I just stated, except there's no need to use Y splitters, because it's already built into a single fixture

I wasn't aware Swiftech made a PWM D5 pump. There's the MCP655 Vario which is adjustable, and the MCP35x which is PWM but that's a DDC pump. Which one are you talking about?
