Monitor replacement

Thread Starter
I have a compaq Presario A900(exact model is a931NR) and it has a 17.0" monitor. Resolution is 1440x900. i Found http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-OEM-Precision-M6300-M90-E1705-M1710-WUXGA-CCFL-LQ170M1LW2A-LCD-Screen-PF006-/160796631942 with a resolution of 1980x1200. If the cables and dimensions match up will i be able to replace my current screen with the one linked?

they don't match up in the back.

I cant see it being quite as simple as that but Im certainly no expert.

This site has some options which may be more compatible. https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/hp-compaq/PRESARIO~A931NR/ up to 1680x1050. They suggest that Backlighting type, resolution are factors but dont say why exactly.

I think the GMA3100 uses shared system memory but it may be limited to a certain value that might restrict your Panel resolution. Does it support external display at 1920x1200?

Yes x3100 itself does support 1920x1200 external.

Im about to pull apart my current monitor and see how it looks.

EDIT: It looks really close to the back of the linked one... if not exactly the same
