Running 670 SLI now on a 120hz monitor and the lowest frames I see on a 64 multiplayer map is about 90 during intense action, most of the time it's capped at 120. I doubt a single 780 will have the "oomph" to pull that off.
Please save yourself the trouble and sell the 670 and go for a single 780 so you avoid the SLI problems associated with BF3. I just went through your experience these last two months when I bought two Asus 660's DCU2's in order to keep my Asus VG248QE 144hz monitor happy while in BF3 and it was not a pleasant experience. I ended up selling my 660's and bought a single 780 and all my stutter and low GPU usage problems went away in BF3.

I discussed this a lot more in this thread here. Please read through it and see what I went through so you don't make the same mistake as I did.

You already said your wallet is burning. Will you be able to fork out around 1300$ - ish for two 780's? Even on two phases?

Actually your framerate wont ''go down to single digits'', but your game will start to stutter a bit.

And OP, the reason why you see 1.8gb of vram usage is because of the memory allocation. You dont ''need'' 1.8gb of vram to play the latest battlefield, but your card will try to use whatever's available so you will see inflated numbers, regardless.

Hey guys! Thank you so much for your great advice! Reps all around!

I havent been too experienced when it comes to the whole "VRAM" thing. Ive only had to worry if i got enough "fps" or something... So in my understanding; if you run out of VRAM (2GB in my case)... how bad is the stuttering? I havent had any problems going SLI with Battlefield 3 so i MIGHT go for the 670..... if i go with the 780 (I have no money to go 780 SLI ) i dont think it will push the 120+ fps i want unless i go SLI.

I have ONE last question to ask.... so say HYPOTHETICALLY Battlefield 4 comes out... and then "hypothetically" it will require say MORE VRAM than what i have.... i know that 99% of the time i probably may not even go over 2GB of VRAM but for those 1% (full of explosions and lots of stuff breaking) that i "may" need more than 2GB VRAM... whats the worst that can happen ? Will i see single digit drops? I think the better question here is.... how does 2GB face versus a game like Crysis 3? Doesnt Crysis 3 require more than 2GB of VRAM from what i understand? (on JUST THE ISSUE OF VRAM - not GPU power as i know that is an ENTIRELY different case)

Hi thank you for your insight! Very interesting read. But I think comparing SLI 660 with their 192-bit memory bus and weak potential to overclock compared to SLI 670 FTW (with 680 PCB and better components than a 660) is kind of comparing two different SLI card set ups. I think the 780 and 670 FTW SLI would be better suited for higher resolutions where the 660 would be affected by the 192-bit bus. I also have had 0 problems with a 560Ti SLI set up on my previous build regarding "SLI stuttering or problems".

Also the 660 is like a 200 dollar card. I think you cant really compare apples to apples with a 660 to a 670FTW. That is just my two cents.

You would NOT be running out of v-ram on 1080p even on BF5 lol, don't believe all those people saying crap. 2GB and 1080p is bliss...

I played through the whole first mission of crysis 3 on x8Msaa and this is the max v-ram usage i got on 1080p 660 SLI 2gb. Just because someone had a problem with SLI does not mean you will too, you have different system configs, and your experience is going to be vastly different from theirs. My own experience with 660 SLI was flawless, and i would buy it over and over again wubsmiley.gif. Trust me, your 670 SLI will be fine if you have a well balanced system, get it if you do not have the money to spend on 780 SLI

1.5GB on 8x MSAA on Crysis 3 at 1080p ? Youre telling me Crysis 3 is less VRAM intensive than Battlefield 3 Even with MORE Anti aliasing than Battlefield? How does it use LESS VRAM with MORE MSAA ? Battlefield is 4x MSAA and Crysis is 8x MSAA ? I thought Crysis 3 was WAY more intensive than Battlefield 3.... get like 60 fps in Battlefield 3 and then like 30-40 In crysis 3..... how is that possible? Are you sure that the 660 you have is not bottlenecked by the 192 bit memory bus and 2GB VRAM?

What else can anyone say about this? Ive been seeing people who need more than 2GB of VRAM o.O that is odd....

LoL Where do you get your info from? Lots of people talking about 2gb v-ram being "not enough" for 1080p are misleading you haha. Not to spam, but here are benches i did on my 2gb 660 SLI, so you can imagine what your 670 SLI will get.

Why can't you get an 4gb 670 and run them in sli?
if you use the 4gb gtx 670 as primary card, wouldn't you be having 4gb of vram?
I'm not sure if 4gb and 2gb mixing graphic card will work or not...
