Frankly, I am not a fan of Apple as a company but they make a great tablet. I have had the pleasure of owning pretty much every Android tablet (well at least the decent ones) to hit the market over the last couple of years.Despite my misgivings I returned to IPads (and especially the Mini). Android is fun but it's almost like working with Lego blocks. You have to tinker to get it where you want it. While that is fun, I'd rather use a tablet than spend time configuring a tablet for usage. Also battery life is a big requirement for me and currently the IPad Mini has the best battery life of any tablet on the market.

If you want an awesome Android tablet that is heavily discounted currently, have a look at the Toshiba AT270. $250 and one of the best Android tablets currently available. 7.7" Super AMOLED+ screen, better battery life than any of the Nexus tablets, Micro SD slot, HDMI out, Tegra 3, etc.

bah... Tegra 3? yikes.

As a member of overlock.net where tinkering to get it where you want it is basically the point, i am a little confused by your stand point.

When i first got my hands on an iPad I tried to move an icon to the bottom right. When it shot back up to the top left I turned it off and haven't touched one since. To not be able to move icons around and position them how you like is beyond insanity.

Here's my Razr HD's background. nice and even.

I wasn't aware that overclock.net focused on "overclocking" tablets. This is a computer enthusiast site. It would be a big exaggeration to compare any Android/IOS tablet to a PC...

I guess if you consider rooting tablets to be tinkering that would qualify but as far as I am concerned, tablets are consumption devices, media, reading, internet, games etc. In other words a bigger version of the Android and Apple phones on the market.

I "bought" a tablet to read, watch video on the go and use the internet (in that order). I "built" a PC in order to game, work, video, etc as well as tinkering and overclocking, upgrading, etc.

Apples and Oranges...

your whole idea that i was comparing tablets to PCs is false. Simply stating tinkering has never gotten in the way of choosing a device. I never once even mentioned overlocking a tablet. its not even tinkering in my book, its moving a slider from 1ghz to 1.4ghz and then clicking set on boot....

if you bought a tablet to read on and go on the internet iPad is perfect, my grandma does the same thing on her iPad and loves it.
