Can't login to debian gnome.

Thread Starter
Tinkering with distros, liking debian but I keep getting this problem on log in. In virtual box with net install and live gnome both x64. Am using latest stable 7.0.0... wheezy?

Only error code of any kind I get, after hitting log out it takes me back to the login screen.
Have KDE and XFCE versions and they work great except the KDE version /home is empty, no premade folders. On the net install it would log me in sometimes without trouble others with the above screen. Live disk won't log in past that screen at all.

MD5 Hashes all correct and verified.

*EDIT* Ignore, been googling for half hour looking for this before I posted. Just now had the idea to try loading gnome classic and installing guest additions > the ones that pre-installed from the disk. Working just fine now, 4-5 restarts logging in every time.

I guess that means there is some bug between the pre installed virtual box additions and gnome shell on this release but I have no idea how to find out what it is and report it.

At a guess, GNOMEshell might be forcing compositing and standard VESA drivers cannot cope with that.

Either way, GNOME3 is crappy so you're better off without tongue.gif
