Skyrim crashes at 3.2gb?

Thread Starter
Hey, isnt skyrim supposed to support usage up to 4gb?

Cause i have some heavy texture packs that reads up to 3gb or more video memory, but whenever skyrim reaches between 2.8-3.2gb ram usage, then game just crashes to desktop without warning or anything.

It can recognize that much RAM / VRAM... doesn't mean the engine was really designed with that much usage in mind. The engine/game just isn't stable with that much resource usage.

You can try using LAA (Large address Aware). Wether or not that will solve your issue I can't be certain. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112556

It won't make a difference, an early patch to Skyrim changed the .exe to be Large-Address Aware. As long as you didn't pirate it (and still, probably even if you did) it should have the latest patch, in which case it's already applied.

There's nothing you can do to 'fix' the problem, since it's a result of the game engine being designed years back and just receiving appropriate updates. It just can't run the game like that for extended periods of time.
