Athlon II overclock

Thread Starter
I have an Athlon 640 while I'm waiting to upgrade to my piledriver, and need a good oc on this so I can actually play some games in the meantime.
Does anyone know what a solid oc would be for this?

My rig:
2 Radeon 2gb 7770's crossfired
8GB PNY Ram
Asetek 550lc liquid cooler
Asus m5a7 mobo

There isn't a set frequency that is considered "good". I would just start increasing the frequency on stock voltages until it is no longer stable. (test by running prime95 for a few minutes to see if it is semi stable). When you can't increase the frequency any more then increase voltage by a little bit and increase frequency more still making sure it is stable. Rinse and repeat until you have hit a comfortable max temperature and don't go past that temperature. You then might have to go back down one step in frequency to stay under that temperature while stress testing. Good luck and happy gaming tongue.gif

Since thats not an unlocked multiplier, youll have to overclock via the FSB so your overclock will be limited a lot by what your motherboard can do on the FSB. Assuming youve got a good motherboard, Id think 3.4 should be doable and maybe a little more.
