Is this a good SSD? Kingston SSDNow V300 Series?

Hi I was wanting to find out if the Kingston SSDNow V300 Series is any good, Because I can pick it up for $99. I was think about getting a Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F180GBGS-BK for $179? but is it worth the $80 for the 60g difference and speed difference?

Well crap, I was just looking at some of the other forums, my main use for this drive would be for win7 64 and a few games and other programs, but I am not sure if I have room on a 120g ssd. I did have a 160g ssd that I had the same things on until it died on me. And I thought it had room to spare.

I had a 120 and it was plenty of space for my OS 3-4 games and some general stuff. More than that, and I think you're going to need more space. So that is up to you. As for the speed, Id say it is fine. When you consider that in the real world the difference in perceptible speed is going to be negligible.

What should I be looking at for a SSD drive? I need to get one for me and my wife. Myself I am more of a gamer so I need to be able to hold the OS, and about 3 or 4 game, maybe 5 (Which includes what ever MMO i am playing at the time), I only will keep what game I am playing at the moment on this drive when not playing it I will move it to the 1t hd. the rest can go on to my 1t HD. She need to have the OS, maybe 1 or 2 (mainly an MMO) games and a few odds and ends. the rest can go on her 1t hd.

Hard to tell... 120GB would maybe be cutting it low. For the 180GB there's the newer Intel 335, it's on sale @TigerDirect:

I am also wanting to know what should I look for in a SSD? what speeds? what is the important things to look at when looking for an ssd other then size? And would a 120g be good enough for her? Like I said she more into the OS running faster and 1 or 2 games that she play some time. and thing like Win Office, she is in RN classes so her time is more spent on school work then games, and she only plays 1 mmo and maybe 1 game at any give time.

Take a peak at Sean's list its thorough.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1179518/seans-ssd-buyers-guide-information-thread#user_SeansrecommendedSSDs

I buy based upon reliability then performance; right now I would go with a Samsung 840pro or a Plextor M5pro Extreme although the Seagate 600 seems good too.

Geez, current SSD prices make me sick. I'd get a 120-250GB SSD. You used to be able to pick up 120GB drives for ~75 and 250gb drives for ~150 a lot a few months ago, prices are up. for the summer to make fall sales look better sadly. frown.gif

I'd get a the sandisk ultra plus over the v300.

Or something else on sale.
