Which motherboard OC the best

Thread Starter
I am gonna get E6300 really soon and im going to buy a motherboard to go along with it as well.I want to overclock my CPU to 3 GHz at least, but due to my budget i can only get a few

From the price lists i have obtained (so far),these are to Mobos that i can afford

Asus P5L-1394
Asus P5B-VM
Asus P5B
Giga GA-965P-S3
MSI P965 Neo-F

Anyone can tell me which motherboard can overclock the best? (or at least get my CPU to 3GHz)

I have taken out GA-945GM-S2 and Asus P5VDC-X as the ram speed stated only goes till 667MHz while i am going to get 800MHz RAM (even though i read somewhere that the Mobo can actually support higher frequencies) so should i consider it or just take it out?

I hope someones can help me shorten the list cause i may be adding some new ones to the list

The P5B-D is a shoe-in. The 0711 BIOS will remove any booting issues, at least all that I have run into.

I know it is not on your list, but the P5B is... which is not such a great OC'er.

The S3 i believe is the best overclocker of those listed, or possibly the NEO-F

EDIT: not sure about where you are, but the DS3 is only a few $$ more than the S3, and is a proven overclocker. Its just slightly better than the S3 is. It uses different capacitors and such. But if only the S3 is availably and in your budget, thats the board i would go with.

Just a thought... Why don't you buy your E6300 from the USA and have it shipped to you in Singapore? I think the E6300's are going for about $180 in the States. Even if shipping cost you $50 USD, you'd still be saving $70 USD, which you could put towards a P5B Deluxe?

Just a thought .

Otherwise, I'd go for the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3, but only because I've seen quite a few about on the forum and have seen them do well with o/c'ing C2Ds.

Highly-Annoyed

Ahh..thats not what i meant
The E6300 cost $300 SGD,which is 194 USD
Im just saving $14 USD actually..

Btw i just found out that the S3 doesnt have onboard VGA..which means i have to get another Motherboard that has it,because i wanted to buy the graphics card later on..

This is gonna get tough...

If you want good overclocking, don't get onboard graphics. It likely will hinder your efforts of overclocking.

Is this one available there?
GIGABYTE GA-965G-DS3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel G965. It's the 'G' version of the DS3 with onboard graphics. No idea how well it overclocks compared to its video-less sibling.

Review on Newegg regarding overclocking are mixed (insofar you give any value to those reviews)

Nope..not avail
I will be buying the pci-e card about 2 weeks after the processor..so its ok

And since its so hard to cross them out of the list..i might as well state what i am looking for in the Mobo : supports up to 800MHz DDR2 RAM, 1066FSB, Onboard VGA, (which costs 125 US or less)--> the limiting factor

I am doing research already, but not fast enough
