Worth keeping Phenom II x4 955 @ 4ghz for folding?

Hey Y'all,

I was just interested in some input. I was considering selling this chip since I upgraded to an I7, but I'm tossing the idea around about keeping it and buying a couple cheap sticks of ddr3 to get my old sys back up. Would the electricity cost be worth the production? I have a core 2 duo that equals this chip at 4ghz @ ~6000ppd, which I use as a HTPC.

Any input would be appreciated, I've only been getting lowballs and tire kickers on craigslist so I'm not all that motivated of a seller.

I would say it would be worth keeping as a backup.  With the direction f@h is going more toward GPU folding, it could be a nice start for a GPU folding rig.  I don't know if it'd be worth to keep to solely fold on the CPU though.

Im a week late to the party ... I second the above. Keep the chip to run somw gpu's for folding. I am not to clued up on AMD but from what I have read the ppd/watt is not the best.

If you don't want it anymore, flip it. Someone will pay you a decent amount of money for a Phenom II X4 that can run at 4 GHz, even now.

I tried to sell it on CL, people want me to donate it to them practically. I guess I'll slap it together and stick my random nvidia cards I've got laying around in it for folding purposes. gtx 260, 9400 gt + that chip should be good for 15-20k ppd I'd imagine.
