This will be my first computer build, and I would really appreciate any input. The computer will be used as a media center, mostly videos, but also some games (Skyrim, Civ5, CSS). Thanks very much in advance for your help.

My Computer Build

Already have
  • Monitor
  • Windows 7
  • Large storage hard drives
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse

Case (pretty set on this)

  • $90 - Fractal Design Define R4 with Window, Black Pearl

Motherboard

  • ???

Power Supply

  • ???

CPU
  • $180 - Intel Core i5-3470 Quad-Core Processor 3.2GHz

Video Card

  • $100 - Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 GHZ 1 GB DDR5

Memory

  • $55 - Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB (2X4 GB) PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3 240-Pin SDRAM

Storage (pretty set on this)
  • $1-- for Samsung 840 Series 2.5 inch 120GB SATA III internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Total thus far = $525, so $95remaining.

For a PSU the Rosewill Capstone is very good value you dont need more then 550 watts for that

I even think you could do it with a 450 watts Capstone but am not 100% sure of that

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm thinking of getting a SeaSonic M12II 750 SS-750AM 750W. $60 on New Egg right now. Would that be smart? Future proof me at least.

You dont need 750 watts unless you are sure you want two video cards

For a system with one video card its a waste of money

You can also find just as good or better units then just Seasonic if you look around a little

I'm sure you are correct. Are there any $40 or $50 great PSU that you'd recommend? If I end up paying $60+, then I'll go with the crazy good deal on New Egg right now. Who knows, maybe I'll use the power later on.

Rosewill Hive XFX Core Edition and OCZ ZS in that order

Or Rosewill Capstone which is the best bang for buck

Again, thanks for your reply.

Those products are $70 on Amazon. I'd rather spend extra. They also don't seem modular. Just my thoughts. I'm thinking I might get more into computers and want to build more, so I might as well get more power.

The Hive and Core are semi modular

You want fully modular?

And you dont need more power unless you plan to have two or more video cards
