Help me out with a sidegrade please!

I'm having a bit of a predicament here and could use some input from you guys. Currently I have two GTX 670s in SLI, watercooled as well. Along with that is a 3570K at 4.8GHz, and everything is being shown on a 2560x1440 monitor running at 96Hz. I did some testing with BF3 today and got some interesting results that I'll summarize here:

Single Card:
Low: 120-140 FPS
Ultra: 55-65 FPS
SLI
Low: 100-120 FPS
Ultra: 85-100 FPS

As you can see, I'm actually getting worse performance in SLI mode in BF3 on low settings, that I'm probably going to say is because of my CPU being bottlenecked, but on ultra it is slightly better. Since I am definitely not going to be upgrading my CPU, I was thinking about selling my 670s and getting a single, watercooled 780. The performance might be less, but then I'd have lower power consumption, lower heat in my loop, another gig of vram, and less SLI troubles (microstutter, etc). The questions are:

1. Is this at all a good idea?
2. Would I be able to pay for the price of a 780 and waterblock with the two 670s?
3. Are there any other tests I should run or things I should do to get my current setup running better?
4. Would a 780 be able to power 2560x1440 at 96 FPS?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks guys!

TL;DR: Wanting to swap SLI 670s with single 780, good or bad?

I do not think that the 670s would sell for enough to get you a 780 + block, but it would probably be a worthwhile sidegrade for 1440.

I've listed them for $325 each with the block, we'll see if anyone bites. Anyone else have any opinions?

I would make the same decision as you. But don't be shocked if you don't have enough to buy a 780 and block from the money.
Maybe just go up in the CPU world? Unless your 670s are 2gb like my one. Probably won't cut it at that res

EDIT: concluded that you have 2gb cards,

Yeah they are 2GB 670s. The problem with upgrading CPU is I either have to get a 3770K ($300) or upgrade to Haswell or SB-E, which would be even more for a new motherboard. I thought this would be a more economic option, with a new CPU coming later down the road with Skylake or something.

Sell the 3570 and go for a 3770?

Lets just hope BF4 will have better SLI scaling

You think I could sell a delidded 3570K? 4.8GHz at 1.38V.

If I sold the 670s, is it better to sell the cards and blocks separate or sell em together?
