Eh, the EVGA ACX SC looks more appealing, 40$ cheaper, faster, however it runs hotter. Is this card 2 or 4 slots?

ACX is faster? I don't know why you would say that, they're the same speed per that review. The overclocked benchmarks were in the margin of error and the ACX was .1 fps faster - now you can't honestly look at anyone in the eye and say that is of significance, can you? Both cards are basically the same speed +/- 5% depending on how far they overclock; and overclocking is dependent on the quality of the chip you receive. Both coolers appear to be fantastic, although the asus was slightly quieter at load and cooled slightly better. The main downside to the DC2 being the cost - the cost is higher than the EVGA ACX.

As to whether the Asus is worth the slight price premium is up to the user, but it's definitely a nice, sexy card. They're both good cards, actually.

damn $700. You would think they would try to be a little bit competitive with the acx cooler or the gigabyte one. They are both clocked higher out of the box. Could someone tell me why this is superior to the acx cooler besides the backplate? The max overclock they got on the acx was lower but the score was higher.

Margin of error. Benchmarks don't replicate a score 100% of the time, especially real time game testing.

But their cooler is louder...

For me, I don't believe I would have enough space on my motherboard to be able to throw a second 780 in down the road and that makes the ACX/Windforce options slightly more appealing. That is if I ever go SLI with a second 580 or upgrade to the 780 this fall. Still on the fence on that one.
