Has anyone gotten a card with SK Hynix memory? Have yet to find any information concerning how well this memory overclocks.

I'm not sure what's going on as yet with GFE, drivers or game design these days. Tho some have reported instabilities and "under setting" (picking settings less than they were already using satisfactorily) after installing it, I didn't experience anything.

It is new software and it frustrates the hell out of me that I can't install it anywhere but the default location. I have also noticed that while one can get stable GFX card overclocks w/ Furmark, and all the benchmarks / utilities, games seem to have difficulty. In past years, I can never recall a situation where I could be stable in all the benchies on then crash in game..... but so far both BF4 and Last Light present that problem....... Played BF4 campaign all the way thru w/o a hitch yet multiplayer gives the problem above ..... Last Light black screens soon after starting but works at stock speeds...... not overheating, temp at 39C.= under Furmark when OC'd.

It should recognize the twin GFX cards..... Under the "My Rig" tab, I see:

GeForce GTX 780
GeForce GTX 780

I don't know what settings it picks for a single card but here's what It's picks for me with the twin 780's (they are OC'd 25% on core and 20+% on memory but I don't think it picks that up. .... perhaps someone with a single 780 can chime in and see how they compare:

Metro LL - Not actually played yet
Adva. PhysX - On
Display Mode - Full Screen
Quality - Very High
Resolution - 1920 x 1080
SSAA - 2X
Tesselation - Very High
Texture Filtering - AF16X

BF4
Ambient Occlusion - HBAO
Anti-Aliasing Deferred - 4 x MSAA
Anti-Aliasing Post - High
Display Mode - Full Screen
Effects Quality - Ultra
Graphics Quality - Custom
Lighting Quality - Ultra
Mesh Quality - Ultra
Resolution - 1920 x 1080
Resolution Scale = 100
Terrain Decoration - Ultra
Terrain Quality - Ultra
Texture Filtering - Ultra
Texture Quality - Ultra

I'm not a big gamer (no time) but the kids use my box ever once and a while when they have a friend over and need an extra seat.

Hynix is the defacto "cream of the crop" .... many manufacturers start out with Hynix and send the samples out to reviewers and then switch to a lower quality brand later on.....It has been reported that Samsuing/ Hynix are equivalent .... I have no information either way ... the one peeps generally want to avoid tho is Elpida. Mushkin uses Hynix in their Redline Series.... Corsair Vengeance pPro started out with Hynix and then switched at about Rev 4.59 IIRC.

You sir a are gentleman. I've read comments about how they are still developing compatibilities for those that run sli in games. Nvidia experience is trying to come out with sli profiles but none have kicked in for me as of yet. As for games, everything works perfectly along with a few benchmarks. I think I broke 3DMark by using their default settings and running the entire program through each benchmark.

This or GIGABYTE GTX 780 with higher OC?
Will you void the warranty if you OC this yourself using MSI afterburner or the EVGA equivalent?

EDIT: I can get the GIGABYTE 30USD cheaper.

Factory OC's mean nothing.

I don't know of any GPU where overclocking voids the warranty, since you're still working within highly restricted values (e.g. voltage wall).

Then you should probably go with the Gigabyte. Usually they are only $10-15 cheaper in which case I would recommend the Asus one. All Gigabyte does is take the reference card (PCB) and slap their cooler onto it.
Meanwhile Asus DCII card uses a fully custom PCB with higher-quality components. Power delivery is better, comes with an all-black backplate + straightening brace (zero sagging). You can tell a lot of design and engineering goes into Asus DCII cards when you hold it and feel the weight of it tongue.gif.

I would never buy a non factory OC'd card ..... If ya see someone claiming you can do the same thing yaself, they have been misled. Yes, you can most certainly overclock a reference card to the same OC as the factory OC'd card comes outta the box. That's like saying your Volkswagon can go as fast as Porsche on the state highway .... yeah if ya both obey the speed limit. But open it up and take the shackles off, and its usually no contest. Of course with the silicon lottery, there is exceptions to every rule.

It's not the fact that it was factory OC'd that is significant; it's that the cards, with few exceptions are physically different. All reference cards are exactly the same , no matter whose name is slapped on it. You will see some reference designs with a different cooler but that's the extent of the change. EVGA SC series is a typical example of a reference PCB with a factory OC'd card ....the 760 is technically non reference but it merely swaps manufacturer;s of the voltage controller.... it' is by no means a "beefier" controller.

Here's the deal.....a reference card comes with a reference PCB ..... a non-reference card comes with a custom PCB which may include any combination of Beefier VRM (i.e. MSI N series, , Better Memory, Hand picked GPUs (i.e. Asus TOP series). Look at the reviews, especially the youtube ones with infra red pics.... the VRMs is always the hottest part on the card. While the beefier hardware is a bonus in air cooling (which is why we see the best OCs on these in the reviews), it seems to help a bit more in water cooling...... at least my OC went a bit higher when I went from air to water. As far as I have been able to determine all of the Asus DCII series, MSO TwinFrozr or N Gaming series and Gibgbayte Windforce have had custom PCBs

As far as the warranty, those worries seem to have vanished since they have virtually locked down voltage limits .... without a hard mod, it's just about impossible to damage damage these cards simply

To my knowledge the only consumer cards where you're guaranteed to get a higher-binned chip (hand-picked) is with: Asus DCII TOP, MSI Lightning, EVGA Classified and Galaxy HOF.
I ended up buying the ASUS one, both due to it was cheaper at a store I know have great customer support (recently got 650USD cashback due to a noisy fan in my almost 3 year old GTX 580 which was GIGABYTE) and it seems like ASUS just delivers overall better quality products, never had any issues any of their mobos etc.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Yes, as I noted the TOP series has hand picked GPUs ....I put the Lightning and Classified in yet another category tho as they carry a considerable greater price differential than the typical $10-$20 on factory OC'd jobs .... they also provide ways to over volt, dua BIOS and other OC features.....dunno much about the HOF
