All you have to do is click on configure in the advance control window, then click on slots, then click on your gpu slot and click edit in the bottom right hand corner of the window. When the new window comes up look at the bottom of the window and where it says extra core arguments click add. Once the little window pops up put "client-type" in for the name, minus the quotes. Then put "beta" in below that and click save. Once your gpu finishes the wu it's on then it should download a core 17 and be good to go. Here is a ! If you have any question just fire away.thumb.gif

That easy aye lol Thanks for all of your help mate it is much appreciated biggrin.gif

Now i'm setting up folding at home on a remote server a friend has given to me to use.

is ppd of 5000 a bit low for a i5 3570k @ 4.0Ghz and the HD 7770 Ghz edition at stock? I know this will probably change when the beta worker unit starts.

Your welcome. As for the ppd, 5000 does seem a bit low. I'm not a 100% sure, but my 960t gets a little over 3000 ppd with just 2 cores depending on the work unit. So I would say yes. how many smp work units have you folded so far because you have to fold ten wu and keep an 80% success rate to get the bonus points. Also if your gpu isn't folding at 97-98% (I think the core 16 wu have trouble with this on the 7xxx gpus.) then it might be possible to have that low ppd.

Just two and I have lost one that was roughly 70% done. Should I use the beta units on the cpu as well?

Also i asked this question in another thread but no answer yet. Can I view the web control of a remote client to manage the one on a server not on my network? Many of the guids talk about local networks,

also I do not have a static ip address from my isp

You can, I wouldn't really recommend it though.

I've never tried that, but I don't see why not.

I'm not sure about web control or remote clients as I have never used either. Maybe set up a VPN, idk though. Someone will eventually help you out though.
As for the wu and ppd that does seem about right then as your not getting a smp bonus yet. I also wouldn't recommend trying the beta units on your cpu because you will probably not be able to complete them fast enough for any bonus, more so with only two cores. If I stop my client in the middle of a 8900 wu for just a couple of hours it will drop the points on that wu by 5000-6000 points so ya, probably not a good idea.redface.gif
I don't know if the wu you lost will count towards the ten required for bonuses or not, but I would think not so you will need to fold another to replace it before you get the bonus smp points.

You shouldn't even need to set up a VPN. You would just have to forward the port on your router I believe. I can try it later when I get home.

[edit]

I tried it, and couldn't even connect from another computer on my LAN, so if there is a way, I'm not sure how to do it.
