A8 5600k Temperature Issues (Flamethrower or ice cube?)

Thread Starter
I recently received a free A8 5600k, and thought it would be a great excuse to throw some extra drives laying around together to make a server/htpc rig. Anyway, there have been some troubles as far as making sure everything is going well with it. I have a cheap gigabyte FM2-a55-HD or something like that, and temperature monitoring is next to impossible.

I've used:
HWmonitor
Speccy
SpeedFan
HWinfo64
Aida64
Gigabyte Easytune 6
CoreTemp

Most of them return temperatures under load of around 80C and 40 at idle on a hyper212+. Some return 0 or "?". My favorite is -17C. The majority say 80, which makes no sense to me at all, since the heat sink is cool to the touch, I have triple checked the mounting, and even gone to the stock cooler which returned similar temps.

However, easytune6 reports temps of around 41C at load, and 25C at idle. It idles 1-2C above ambient. This seems closer to the truth, but it worries me that every other program disagrees. Bios reports temps at around 27-30.

Does this processor just run cool as ice? I've always used intel processors until this one, so I'm not used to seeing load temps like this on cheap cooling. The case has plenty of airflow.

I hoped someone here had some experience to share with me? Thanks in advance.

The BIOS is rarely inaccurate, so here's the way I see it: 30*C idle sounds about right for an AMD Chip running with a Hyper212+. I highly doubt that you'll be hitting 80*C either (unless you've installed the heat sink improperly), as the maximum operating temperature according to AMD is 74*C for that particular chip. You'd likely be having issues at that temperature, and you'd have probably seen some sort of failure while stress testing. However, your programs are giving you all sorts of strange temperatures! I personally use CoreTemp, as I have gotten very accurate results from that program for my AMD CPU (FX-6100).
