Wow, that is one HUGE case! How noisy is it with 12 hard drives spinning?

Some watercooling specs would be nice, too

Here we go again, now this is my take on the " Turbine fan" mod. I'm using a cheap 120mm clear fan with no LEDs. I want to converted into a silver turbine fan with green leds, so lets begin.

The victim :dremel:

First I took the label in the back of the fan to take it apart.

There in the middle you can see the white plastic washer, that holds the impeler.

Once removed, the impeler comes off.

I put some tape on the coils, to protect them from dust and some in the frame; to avoid scratches.

I have set up a stopper ( a piece of scrap plexi ), in my 4" table saw; to make easier the cutting of the fan frame.

Here you can see, the saw cutting the frame.

The frame has been cut in two, I will only use the bottom part.

Now, I use painter tape to mark, where I want to cut the PVC pipe.

Then is back to the mini table saw.

Dry fitting the PVC pipe.

Now I painted with white Krylon Fusion, for plastics.

I'm using the Krylon as a primer, It really sticks to plastic and the final coat of paint should get a good grip on the Krylon. Next I will start on the impeler.

Back to work now in the impeler, first by removing the brand name label. I'm gonna cover the front of the blades, so they don't get painted.

Here's the impeler with all the blades covered.

Now, yes that is an easter egg, the most important part of this mod.

I crack the egg in two and you can see, where one of the half goes.

I took the egg half off, and fliped the impeler upside down, so I can paint the back. I'm only painting the back, when the tape comes off; you will see the color of the paint; but the smooth clear surface of the plastic impeler in the front.

Turn the impeler upside down again and glue the egg half to it.

Then I spray paint the whole thing.

Here, I star peeling the tape off.
[
Final shot, with all the masking removed; smooth.

Next I will put the whole fan together and finished off.

After painting the PVC pipe, I drill holes for the LEDs.

Now the back of the frame, I don't like those RBY wires

They are gone after some desoldering.

Replaced with some clear, silver and chrome pker wires. They are least noticeable.

Some more speaker wire strung with LEDs.

I gonna reuse the molex connetor.

The PVC pipe has been glued to the fan frame and the LEDs had been added.

The impeler has been placed inside the the PVC pipe/frame combo.

The fan is finish.

Finally some pictures of the fan running.

I like the final results, isn't perfect but better that what I started with. The frame that holds the impeler was left clear, so kinda become invisible when the fan light up, you can see just a little hint of green. I was thinking in hidding some more the LEDs and wires but kinda of like the sticking out look. The glossy fan blades and the paint, really help reflect the light of the LEDs.

See ya at the next post , keep on modding

With the fan controllers as any normal PC, Thanks! It has 2 radiators (1) 3x120mm and a (1) 2x120mm, dd 12V pump, TT cpu block, dd chipset block.

I had lost a bunch of pic, so part of the log is missing, sorry about that.

To hold the new top and bottom panels in place I had to build some blocks

Glue them in place

You can see the new attaching points for the small panels.

This are the parts for the new middle panel, that will hold the controlers.

Drilling the side rails, both at the same time for accuracy

Rails had been glued in place

Test fit of the new middle panel.

The panel has been marked for the drilling

75 pilot holes later, is ready for the fun part, filling

Long hours later, all holes had been filed to fit, each controler

Controlers in place, after some more drilling and screwing around

And finally in place, for more fitting.

This front piece is not done yet, need more more long hours of detailing, but at least you got and idea how it would look like.
Thanks for watching, keep on modding...!
