Well it might depend, but still, we are talking of minor changes

yes 2 fans are not a must because it doesn't impove the performance drasticly. 1 fan pushing air through the rad is enough, and if you are concerned about silence the less fans the better. Performance wise, I wouldn't recommend quiet corsair SP (only the performance one are worth it but a lot louder), there are better fans, take the other suggestions.

I got SP120 quiets on my h100i and they push very good amount of air trough it and temps are really low, i think they are good enough, but there are better options, like GTs.

If you're after performance, then don't bother with the SP120 or GT AP15s, just get a pair of Koolance FAN-12038HBK 120x38mm 2600rpm fans forpush pull (117cfm and 6.33mmH2O), and a pair of Phobya 120x7mm rad fan shrouds/decouplers to help with both performance and noise. $20 total for drastically better performance than any Corsair or similar type fan...

Thread Starter
my build is for gaming mobo (asus p8h61-m le csm rev3) processor (i5 2310 Sandy Bridge @ 2.9Ghz) case CM Storm Scout RAM 4G 1333 at idle temp of cores around 30-38 10 mins into gaming they rise to 82 i'm in the process of getting a cooling kit and graphics card so right now i use the on board graphics does this make the temps go high, game im testing is Need for Speed The Run, thermal paste used was regular comp store metal oxide, cant figure out why, help worriedsmiley.gif
post #16 of 18
Are you experienced with installing CPU coolers? Maybe it is not attached properly, it might be a bit loose, or you have too much or too little thermal paste. Try re-installing the cooler.
It also could be due to bad airflow trough the case, is fresh air reaching the back of the case where the cooler sits? Try opening the side panel, that gives more air to the cooler, if the temps don't drop more than 7-8C it's not an issue with airflow. I don't suggest running the PC without sidepanel tho 24/7.
I am actually not sure if using the onboard iGPU effects the temps, i've never actually heard anyone using it for gaming now that i think of it biggrin.gif

im going to try what you said and see if it makes a difference and try a few other things too will upload pics too and i installed 2 case fans on the side panel too and still no luck redface.gif
post #18 of 18
I honestly wouldn't use the side vents, i tried, dust everywhere... mad.gif
If you do, buy some aftermarket dust filters and get static pressure fans, like the SP120 or Koolance FAN-12038HBK
