And this news does look awesome. My poor lil' 8350 is struggling to keep cool at 4.7 GHz with an H100 on it. If they can get one to stay even cooler than that at 4.8, I am interested.

Unless it ends up costing three and a half arms and a leg. I cannot afford that. frown.gif

The new CPUs, the FX-9000 series are not intended for trade

This article says that they will be only available for the oem market

If priced right, this will sell...

we (enthusiasts) are the minority here... if people are able to buy these in pre-builts and the like or they are not comfortable overclocking then these will be a welcome option for the majority of users thumb.gif

Would actually kind of make sense.

Release a plain overclocked 8350 for the OEM market, get a bunch of PR, let enthusiasts OC their chips.

So OEM's are going to start releasing water-cooled CPU's or some strapped to some Thermatake Trio Extreme?

Lot of people buy their desktops and just put it in an non-well insulated desk. 5ghz is going to COOK

If it is OEM only, it will come with 7970s etc .It will probably be very expensive, meant for gaming and won't be bought by randoms. Probably some niche Lenovo,HP or even Apple stuff.

I really wish something big would come to the market. 5 - 10 % performance jumps are not exciting

You'd be surprised.

I know someone who bought a prebuilt that had an i7, and a Radeon 7750. For $1500.

EDIT: Oh, and when he replaced the stock heatsink, he scraped the thermal paste off of the stock heatsink, and mashed it together with the one stuck to the CPU while installing a new aftermarket heatsink. Then he proceeded to call the aftermarket heatsink crap.
