Help with 980x and rampage 3 extreme rog

Hi so long story short got a great deal on this MB and CPU combo (less than 300$ out of my pocket after trades) Now I'm over clocking this bad boy got it stable at 4.4ghz and 1.375v but I'm having trouble stepping it down on idle. Finally got the frequency to drop down when idle but can't get the volts to drop accordingly they stay at 1.3xx even when the CPU throttles down to 1.9 ghz. Can someone help. I've searched and tried enable ce1 but still no luck. Any help would be great.

Windows power plan set to balanced or max performace?

Balanced but it never affected my 930 with evga MB and that was OCd to 4.2 and would throttle down speed and voltage and it was the same install

Are you doing manual voltage or offset? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe if you do manual doesn't matter what C states or anything you adjust, the voltage will remain the same under manual.

I believe manual but could be wrong I don't see and option for voltage offset anywhere in the bios.

I'm not familiar with that board unfortunately but I would try to google some guides for it and see if you can find anything related to offset voltage. It SHOULD have it. I know for my board if you highlight the box where you change from auto to manual voltage, offset voltage is in there as an option as well.

Yeah been looking all throughout the bios and nothing similar. I got it stable at 4.4 with 1.375v load temps are 68c max but my idle temp the lowest is 32c and I know it could be less if I could get the voltage to drop during idle.

It probably wouldn't drop much even with lower voltage to be honest. Test it and see?

Set chip to stock speeds with 1.375v, check idle. Then keep stock speeds and set voltage to auto. That should allow it to drop voltage, then see what idle temps look like.

That should give you a decent idea of how it will affect idle temps. I'm just betting not much.
