Is my e6600 running at 3.2 GHz or 3.6 GHz?

Thread Starter

Here Are My Specs:

Asus P5B-Deluxe
Intel Core Duo e6600 L631A
eVGA 7600GT KO 256MB
2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1000
Samsung 18X DVDRW Combo
Thermaltake Armor Balck Tower case w/ 25 cm Fan
OCZ GameXtreme 600W PSU

Is it normal for the 25 cm fan to be touching the top of my Tuniq Tower?

What setting would you recommend me to OC at?

What programs are most reliable for Vcore and Temp readings?

What programs should I use to test stability?

I hope to run at around 3ghz daily and maybe 3.6ghz every once in a while. Are there problems with my temps that would prevent this?

What is a good vCore for 24/7 use on an e6600?

Please give me some answers and suggestions.

try setting u'r multi @ 9
fsb @390 (gives u 3,51ghz)
and set u'r voltige to 1,4v and slowly rais it untill u have a stable othos run
if u already have it stable take u'r voltige down
(i need to have it @1,5v)

alsow doo a memtest after u set u'r fsb that hige too enshure u'r memmory isnt the problem

ps. whatch ur temps downloade TaT for that (all other tools dont show exact temps on that psu)

i have a 32a so we should have about the same psu (bad oc'r)
i'm alsow on water and getting quite hige temps

btw cpu-z does not give u the right voltige after 1,5v it just shows 1.280v need too use some other tool to get it like speedfan (in my case anyway)

wouldnt recomend going for 3,6 with that chipp i'm not untill i get better cooling

(edit)
cant answer u about the multi (im a noob my self)
i'l try anyway
the multi @6 is the reason for the low 1,999ghz altho it makes more sence u would hit 3,0ghz (6x500=3000)

(edit)
ur temps at stock is alsow a bit hige i would loock at some better cooling before u start oc

i agree u have some funny reading's
keep in mind when u run orthos u just need 1 running (it does both cores)

u are runningat 3,2 couse of x8 multi
(guess orthos are using the x9 no mather what to calculate ur ghz)

and if u wont mind keep u'r topic and continue down instead of just editing u'r post

about ur tuniq tower i have no ide sorry

tip. try setting a bigger screan resolution, easyer to fit stuff on the screen

What was I doing with 2 instance of orthos? Was that tougher or easier on my processor?

You really only need one instance of Orthos. Safe Vcore is 1.45v. You can go higher if you don't mind shortening the life span of the CPU greatly. I don't recommend you run it at 3.6 unless you can stay at or below 1.45v. Keep your multi at 9x and run it at 3.2 [or anything you can have stable at 1.45v]

After i would imagine.

What can i use to monitor my vCore?

CPUZ doesnt always seem to be that accurate, and Asus Probe II isnt that great either.

SpeedFan shows for me, 2.5v+ on 'CORE1' and 3.6v+ on 'CORE2'. Lol...

And Everest shows it as 2.66v

Ah, my speedfan is version 4.28.

Also im happy coz i just got my rig stable at 3.2Ghz, but at 400x8 1.344v AFTER vDroop. 50c load. Getting a bit toasty.

Maybe i'll buy a lapping kit from kustompcs.co.uk for £8 and lap my BT. I'm scared i'll royally fsk it up though
