I'd like to get a new monitor

Thread Starter
So I was hoping for a new monitor recommendation, and here are my criteria
  • At least 1080p
  • Works with my laptop (Intel HD 4000)
  • Less than $200
  • Wide viewing angles
  • At least 23 inches, larger is ok

I'm not entirely sure I want to go for IPS, but here's the monitors that I've been thinking about:

The ASUS VS248H-P
The ASUS VG23AH (This is a 3D panel, I'm not 100% sure I want to use this gimmick. In addition to my laptop, I will be using this monitor on my desktop computer, which has an nVidia graphics card)
The ASUS VS239H-P

And finally, the AOC i2367Fh

Even though most of my recommendations have been ASUS, I'm not married to them, I'd be happy to consider any other brands.

EDIT: Apparently, this Dell Monitor is cheap enough on sale

That Dell screen is good and has had fairly good reviews. Should be a good buy imo.

Since you're inclined towards ASUS, here's a good-looking IPS panel. Costs a bit more than the Dell, but looks a lot better imo.

Hope this helps! thumb.gif

well the vg23ah seems like a steal with $70 off, and if you really want, you could try the nvidia lightboost hack, which basically gives you nearly zero blurring.

What I can tell from a quick specs comparison :
- MX239H is an AH-IPS whereas the VS239H is just IPS
- MX239H has a higher contrast ratio (80,000,000:1 vs 50,000,000:1)
- VS239H has limited tilting (+20 Degrees ~ -5 Degrees) whereas there's no mention of any restriction in tilting the MX239H in the specs
- MX239H has built-in speakers whereas the VS239H doesnt
- MX239H has no DVI port but the VS239H has one
- MX239H is $60 more than VS239H
- MX239H looks a lot better (personal opinion)

If you want more detailed comparisons, you'll have to go through reviews of the monitors. Google should be enough to find out good reviews.

Also, if you want personalized advice, you may contact this guy. He runs/owns this site. He's helpful too!

Good luck! thumb.gif

If you happen to be near a Microcenter, the Dell monitor you linked is $180

http://microcenter.com/product/409472/23_UltraSharp_U2312HM_IPS_Monitor

The Dell supposedly has one of the lowest input lag times for LCD monitors.

The only monitor I would even be considering other than the Dell U2312HM (23" eIPS Panel; one of the lowest input-latency displays that isn't the "ARGH MY EYES" TN type), would be the HP 2311xi/Pavilion 23xi (23" eIPS Panel; almost equivalent to the Dell in every way, but the newer version has much less AG coating).
