Nothing to see here - Page 3

The press release is strangely very light on any important info besides confirming the rumor of new Piledriver (Vishera 2.0) CPUs.

I'm pretty sure it reaches 5.0 GHz only when one module or core is at full load.

But encouraging that AMD seems to be getting a handle on their power usage to enable stock clocks at these speeds. Makes me more excited about Steamroller CPUs.

"The new AMD FX CPUs will be available from system integrators globally beginning this summer," meaning it's unlikely they're sold as standalone products at launch.

Why? I can't think of a single AM3+ board that supports that much power draw, most take a max of 125W, which people usually go up to 150W on. The internals of the board can barely take that much power.
Someone please prove me wrong!

It's an interesting release, I would like to see how much voltage they use and how much OC headroom they have. These are better binned chips after all, price must be below 500$ to be competitive tho.

go to any of the extreme benching areas of this forum and ask this question people pump well over that through some of the higher end boards for benching. The higher end boards can definetly take the power draw

7.1ghz wprime 1024m run

there are even 8ghz super pi 1m runs

Bbrad you are wrong. Amd said on twitter the 9590 is an 8 core processor. I beleive AMD is really going to stick to these 8 cores for a good little while. If i were to guess, the price would be anywhere from 300 to 500. They aren't going to price it above any Intel processor that will clearly outperform it, they just won't. So if you do see the price matching these crazy rumors, it will either be a huge milestone for AMD, because it will more than likely have the performance to match that.. OR it will have so much room for overclock that all of the OC enthusiasts will go nuts for it - one or the other. Either way they aren't just going to stray away from their price/performance for no reason.

Ok I didn't know, you don't have to be minorly hostile about it. I'm not an AMD guy, but I do like to keep up with whats happening. thumb.gif

wasnt trying to be hostile sorry it u took it that way biggrin.gif as for power my SR-2 board has taken over 500w (just for the cpus) through it between two cpus the motherboards are able to handle alot more than they let on
