Budget netbook for college student

What is your maximum budget?
Open budget, although preference is: the cheaper, the better. I could get a Macbook Air... but I'm not that sort of person rolleyes.gif $250 is reasonable.

What country are you in?
Saudi Arabia, but using Ebay. No netbooks available locally

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Internet, Email, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, PDF, Youtube, Skype, music, pictures and videos

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
None

What screen size do you require?
14" or under, 11.6" sounds good

What screen resolution do you require?
Any, although 1366x768 or similar would be nice

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
Will gladly settle for refurbished / recertified / used

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
4 hours is good, 6 hours is sweet, anything over would be fantastic.

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
None, I've got my gaming desktop... though it wouldn't hurt if it can run Counter Strike on lowest.

What operating system do you need? (if any)
Any. Is Linux a good idea?

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
Netbook, due to its compact size.

How much hard drive space do you need?
Any.

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
No.

Is there anything else we need to know?
I've used the desktops at my university library. Intel Atom N450s, painfully slow, cant do anything without hanging. Though these were only single core... are the dual core netbook atoms any good? Or is it best to stay away from them?

I'm inclined to stick with AMD Fusion, C-series and E-series that is. Is it a good idea to get rid of the installed Windows OS and go for Linux instead?

I'm a college student, I just want a netbook that will let me read through my PowerPoint lectures, type emails and listen to some music without hanging or crashing on me.

Had a look on Ebay, but unfortunately they charge much higher there, and with shipping charges it goes closer to $500. Can't stand large laptops, I need something small. And as for MS Office... I uh... *cough* *cough*... have my sources ahaha.

Saw that model, but all the sellers I've seen don't ship to Saudi unfortunately.

Did more research on the Acer I linked. As it turns out, its newer brother, the 725, features on notebookcheck.net's top 10 netbooks list. Took a look at the reviews, lots of praise for it... and its only $15 more than the 722 on Ebay. Manufacturer Refurbished... I think I've found what I'm looking for smile.gif
