No. Sony itself is not putting any DRM on the console. Sony is still going to use the same system that's in place right now. Leave it up to the publishers as it always has been.

Microsoft on the other hand is putting DRM directly on their console, regardless of whether the game requires an internet connection or not, the console will.

It's like the current gen where games can be sold used and non-online can be played with no problem, but publishers pursue their own way for online play. EA has already said they won't try to bring back the online pass.

I seem to have been uninformed. Ignore me please.

Add those who do not have 360's but have PSN or PSN+

you have a pretty big number who currently have broadband, and the number is growing substantially

They never lied, they just said "it's the same as now" but with a little more flair.

How many are renewed subscribers vs. how many are console bundled members, or how many are paid Gold subscribers vs. how many are Silver members?

Huge difference between members and subscribers, but Microsoft hasn't distinguished this officially I don't believe. This number is pushing close to actual console sales, and I dare say that with multi-machine households, or even replacement machines, these latest numbers are way too high.

That number is based on gamertags. It's fair to say most people on Xbox only have one gamertag. (unlike PSN, they claimed 100 million people back in like 2011......)

the point wasn't to show how many gold members there were, this is just how many people have Xbox Live free/gold. The total population of people with a 360 and who have it connected via broadband. I'm just showing the aggressively increasing number of people connecting online.

Your point was to argue with another member who said it included Silver memberships, so he was right.

Look up if you have forgotten. I was merely pushing you back to his comment:

"No, that includes Silver." ~ Brutuz.

I am just in this thread occasionally fact observing.

So if both Gold and Silver memberships are counted (multi-accounts and all) then PSN's accounts (which have to connect online with the service) all count too. Estimates are 125 million. So definitely more than each console that has been sold. So the community is just as large, if not larger or smaller, as the Xbox community. However, I would probably estimate closer to 50~60 million (unknown how many Plus memberships there are.)
