wow that actually doesn't sound bad.

Depends if devs still feel the need to load up the blu-rays with trash info in this gen. 40GB is potentially a lot though. Hoping digital downloads on either console are nowhere near that.

Either way, even if you do go to your buddies house, he'll have had his game installed on his console and can still play the game as you walk back home after taking his disc.

If you're on the other side of the world to your friend, you can use an already "used" disc to install, then use his authorisation to enable full use of that game.

Not so for PS4. You have the disc or you don't. You can play or you can't.

Which is why people getting wet over that satirical "how to share games on PS4" video is actually hilarious.

People need to calm down.
Quote:
Sony has outright confirmed my initial interpretation. As reported by GameFront, Sony has stated that Tretton's use of the term "DRM" referred only to playing used games online. Essentially, they're talking about letting publishers use online passes, and no other kind of restrictions.

This also sounds like Sony is scrapping its own online passes, which makes sense if PS Plus is the new online standard.]

http://www.destructoid.com/did-sony-confirm-drm-on-ps4-after-all-not-quite--256052.phtml

As Sony has said all along, used games will work in the same way they've worked on PS3, i.e. they'll work offline but online might be restricted by third parties via online codes.

With PS4, if you want to borrow a game to a friend:

-you give them a disc, likely after you've finished with the game
-you get the game back either when they're done with it or when your patience/OCD runs dry.
-you don't get to play while they have your disc
-you require physical interaction with whomever you are sharing your game with
-game discs scratch and break

With XBO, if you want to borrow a game to a friend:

-you authorise them (and upto 9 other friends) to install and play on their system
-you don't need to wait till they're ready to give up playing the game full stop before you can play it again
-you don't need to feel like you're done with the game before you borrow your game, because you technically always have it, even when your friends do.
-you don't need your disc back full stop
-you can actively share your game with people on the other side of the world.
-you can download your game from the cloud if your disc ever breaks

Where the hell they said that? If that was the case, every game can be pirated.

Here is what I heard about the policy:

1. You can "sell" the game to a friend (and only one friend) who has been in your friend's list for over 30 days.
2. The game can only be "re-sold" it once.
3. If you want to "sell" it instead, you can't just hop on eBay and sell it. Instead, you can only trade-in it to certain places (probably GameStop) and sell it at cheapo prices.
4. The thing you are talking about ("lending") is considered a "family and acquaintances" thing. I am sure there is a catch on this short of you "lending" the game to anyone you see fit for free without a trade-off. I am damn sure the trade-off is that you still need to give out a link to your XBox Live account doing so. Also, if your so called "friend" decided to do a hack or something that subjects to a ban on XBox Live on your "lent" copy of the game tied to your account in some way, you will be banned as well.

So yeah sure that is a great feature, but I won't even give out an association of MY XBox Live account to the game I am "lending" with that method to anyone outside of family. Period.

So no, it is not the same. I rather not get my XBox Live account associated to a friend over getting a physical disk scratched.

Also I am sure with the PS4 you can backup your games from disk to drive too. That tech shouldn't be omitted by any console going forward anymore.

So, the actual game sharing facilities between the two systems is actually superior on XBO in terms of convenience.

And what if I want to sell the game or trade it in for a new one.

In fact, you carefully ignored answering this post:

And no, the sharing options aren't remotely the same. You know that pre-sharing period that is required to have your friends on your friends list for thirty days? Its a pain in the arse.

Its exactly like League of Legend's painful way of gifting RP/Skins/Champs where you have to be on their friendslist for 2 weeks. Its annoying as hell.

Another reason why that implementation is awful? Not everyone, hell quite a lot of people, SELL their games after they are finished with them to financially recoup some of the costs that they had to pay when buying the game. Xbox One has no way of possibly doing that without having to wait a damn MONTH. And even then, its harder than just handing them a physical disc, getting your money, and being on your merry way.

Most people can't afford $60 every single damn time a new game comes out. They pay the first $60, finish the game, and generally loan/sell it to buy more games at a less upfront cost.

Xbox One? Doesn't allow that without seriously inconveniencing the end user, and even then doesn't honestly fully allow it either.

Oh, and I've neglected to mention this, but PS+ vs XBL. I'd take PS+ any day of the week. More free games, and you don't actually have to buy it if all you play are single player games/campaigns. That's nowhere near like XBL where you have to buy it to even run your damn console.

And I'm not even getting into the entry costs and wasteful extras in the Xbox One (Kinect) that make the base difference so vast that to go with the Xbox would be utterly stupid unless you have to have those ~5 Xbox exclusive games.

Please, just stop. We all know you are as fanboy with Microsoft as Vampirr is with AMD, but its getting ridiculous. Its not even a circlejerk anymore. You are just posting flat out wrong facts.

Go ahead and answer that one smile.gif Take your time.

Share access to your games with everyone inside your home: Your friends and family, your guests and acquaintances get unlimited access to all of your games. Anyone can play your games on your console--regardless of whether you are logged in or their relationship to you.

Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.

It sounds like they are trying to dodge a catch here. The catch? You need to associate your "lending" of the game by tying it to your XBox Live account and anything that goes wrong with the "lending" like your "friend" trying to cheat in a MP Match, can get you in trouble as well.

*Bleep* that man.

You seem to have intentionally ignored the part where giving your friend the PS4 disc means you can't actually play it because they have it.

While the XBO implementation to allow both you and your friend to play, with or without physical possession of your game.

Any particular reason why you did that?

Because me, along with most other console owners in the past 30 years, have been doing it like that and I would sound ridiculous if I stated something as obvious as that...

With XBO if I want to share a game, I authorise my friends account to download the game, while also retaining the ability to play the game myself without requiring the game to be returned to me.

And what if I want to sell it because I can't pay tomorrow's lunch..?

I just can't feel that way. I've got over 300 games in my Steam library, over 50 titles on my GOG.com account, a bunch more games through the various Humble Bundles, a lot of them are DRM free or at least have complete, infinite offline modes, of which I don't have enough time to even play half of them.

So I just can't feel shafted because one or two AAA games either don't hit my platform or come out later for it.
