Yet another 'what should i buy thread'

Thread Starter
I'm sorry for another 'what should i get' but i need some advice from you mighty and wise people of Oc.net.thumb.gif

Atm im having: (With bold is the stuff im going to keep)
Motherboard: Asus M4A87TD
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 @ ~3800MHz
Physical Memory: 8192MBDDR3-SDRAM 1333
CPU Cooler: Scythe Ninja 3
Power: Corsair 750W AX
Ssd: 120GB Intel 520
Video Card: 3072MB Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 Windforce 3X
Monitors: L22W-5 - 22 inches and S24A300BL - 24 inches

I think its time to get some intel there! So i need new mom, memory and cpu. I have also been thinking of getting liquid cooler for cpu (unless you guys think my ninja will be alright) something like corsair H100i or H80i depends on which case i finally choose (I'm going mad cos i cant decide that either)
Anywayy..
For motherboard i was thinking this beauty: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 $259.99 I guess its quite expensive but i really really really like the look of it. Other options could be MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming LGA 1150 $189.99 or ASRock Z87 Extreme6/ac LGA 1150 $199.99
For CPU Intel Core i5-4670K $249.99, should be okey right? I was also thinking about the i7 4770k but is it really worth it since this is mostly just for gaming?
For memory something like this CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) SDRAM 1600 $129.99
So what do you guys think? Any suggestions? What do these parts think about overcloking? Also if you know shop where to get these parts around the same price and if they have international shipping, feel free to share(I'm from finland). .And I guess the budget is around $650

Oh and my case is most likely going to be nzxt switch 810, cm storm scout 2 or Corsair Obsidian 650D

Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme6 LGA 1150 (The only reason why you would need the ac is for the built in Wireless) - $169.99 (@ Newegg.com)

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K (For gaming, it's all you will need, the 4770k with its HT will not be worth the price premium for you)- $225 (@ Amazon.com)

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 1600MHz - Free (@Newegg.com ~ It's included as a free gift on Newegg.com with the ASRock Z87 Extreme6. So you should probably act now and save yourself $50-60. For gaming, 8GB is more than enough. 16GB is mostly overkill)

These parts will be more than capable for overclocking. Just pick out a nice cooler and you will be good to go. If you can grab an H80i or H100i or something better like Switftech H220 that will really help out your overclocks.

750 watts is overkill you dont need that much power unless you want two video cards

He already owns it, lol? tongue.gif What do you suggest he sell it and get a less powered PSU? That makes no sense. The PSU is fine.

Thanks alot guys! I'll go with BiG StroOnZ's tips, tho it sure is a pity that newegg doesn't ship internationally so no free giffies for me. I guess I was abit misleading with my links from there :'D

Should i still get that type of memory tho i have to pay for it?
I'd go with the Extreme6 over the MSI if you're not going to shell out for the Sabertooth
(you could get something like a Maximus V Hero or UD4 though too - not sure what pricing is by you).

Do you need 16GB RAM?
If 8GB will be good enough for you, you could get a faster kit, which Haswell actually can take advantage of now.

4670k will be fine for gaming now, HT doesn't do anything for games, but it is usefully for other things if you need it like encoding, VMs etc.
People speculate more and more that mult-core gaming will be important for console ports down the road though (your call, your $, could always swap it out later).

As for the cooler, depends how much you want to OC and how lucky you get with your chip.
These suckers can run HOT on air (H80/100 still in that performance bracket) once you get into the 1.25-3v range.

Even 8gb is probably more than enough. So if my budget stays at that 650$ ~350 goes for CPU+liquid cooler, which leaves 300 for motherboard and mem. How much 8gb of faster memory would be?

I wouldn't get that memory if I couldn't get it for free. I would just grab 8GB of some 1866MHz or 2133MHz Cas 9 or Cas 10 G.Skill memory for around $60-70ish. thumb.gif

8GB of faster memory isn't all that expensive. You can get 8GB of 2133MHz G.Skill memory with decent timings for like $70 these days.

But like candy_van mentioned, you want a decent cooler for Haswell, if you can fit an H110 or Kraken X60 in your case that would ideal.
