Help me getting the best ram?!?!

Thread Starter
hi, sorry for the poor profile i have but i just made my account few second ago. i've been reading forum on this website for couple of days now and i saw something i didn't knew. i commanded a brand new motherbard the asus crosshair V formula-Z and i saw i was able to have up to 2400 ram. so i bought a this Kingston HyperX Predator 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2133MHz CL11 but i saw on another thread that i don't need the 2133 or 2400 because the cpu i bought ( amd 8350) can't have over 1866 ram so is it true? if it is would it be a good idea to change my command before they send it to me for the Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL9 DIMMs???

sorry for my english i'm a french guy from canada XD

thank you.

I have 8gb of gskill trident working at 2400 MHz, so it does work. You should be fine at 2133, more i'm not sure because it's a lot of ram biggrin.gif

I think that 1866mhz is just the speed at which the cpu will be guaranteed to work with at stock voltages and if 32gb of ram is being used.

The 8350 will work with ram faster then 1866mhz but you may need to increase the cpu-nb voltage and it might not work with the full 32gb of ram.

If you decide to go with 1866mhz ram instead of 2133mhz ram then you will notice no difference in performance unless you are into benchmarking.

I don't think it's worth changing anything. Kingston DDR3-2133 can also work as DDR3-1866. Moreover, Kingston most likely use Hynix MFR memory ICs that should have nice headroom for further overclocking while DDR3-1866 from Corsair might be based on Nanya or Micron and barely clear spec.
