Upgrading from a gtx 660

post #1 of 13
Thread Starter
As title already says im looking for a new gpu,
i bought this one 2 months ago and now i regret it that i didnt spend a few bugs more that time,
My budget is around 250-350 euro's, i prefer nvidia but if someone can rlly convince me to go for AMD then i might go for that.
My main activities are mostly gaming and watching movies also i have a 120hz monitor.
Is it worth it to spend 250-300 for a new gpu or is the money not worth it and should i wait some longer? i have a xfx pro core 550w psu btw.
Any help is welcome thanks.

I have found this to be a very helpful chart for making this decision in the past. For me it was the 660ti FTW that hit the price and performance points on the nose. Since you have a little bit more to spend, perhaps the 680 is what you are looking for. As for Nvidia or AMD, well I never have liked ATI/AMD drivers. Also... maybe it's just me but I think the image from one to the other is different and I like the look of nvidia better.

I'm not sure how prices compare for Eurpore but you should consider a 770. Better than ref 680 for the price of a 670.

It's before i sell my 660, 20/30,- more or less doesnt rlly matter either for the new gpu.

@wizardonthejob, It seems like the 680 would be a nice improvement over my 660, most games i play are bf3 and csgo( i know for this game its a total overkill), i also hope that my PSU can handle a 680.

@OP:

Do what he recommended. Its cheaper and will give better performance than you getting a GTX 770/HD 7970.

Edit: Didn't see your recent comment. I'd replace that board anyhow to something a bit better. Craigslist it or Ebay it tbh and get something like the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Biostar TZ77XE3, etc.

There is always that option... Take a look at this post first though: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/371675-33-tomshardware and watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy5478lBais

If you go that route, make sure your power supply can handle it.
