You know it could be which USB ports your peripherals are in (assuming you are using a USB mouse which you kind of have to unless you use a PS/2 one instead of PS/2 keyboard).

Didn't work for me either. My first boot up after the post I made earlier in this thread (wasn't home for a few days), the bios worked fine. Disabled the sound while it was working and 1 or 2 restarts later, it froze again. Wasn't doing it as often this time around, but was still doing it more than it should which is never.

Uninstalling the mobo tonight and taking it back to microcenter.

Not sure if I want to try the Extreme6 and keep my fingers crossed or go another route. Have been looking at the ASUS Pro or the GB UD4H. Oh the joys of playing the Mobo Lottery.

What I did was switch to a dedicated sound card and then muted the sound. Some folks over at Tweaktown said my suggestion of just muting the sound worked as well.

Try to disable onboard audio and see if the issue repeats.

Damn I keep hearing these bios freezing issues with the extreme6. This post makes me not want to get it anymore.

Okay, I just got my PC back today.

I hooked it up with the bare minimum (Screen in GPU, USB in front case for keyboard).

I gave it 30 seconds or so to make sure the bios had fully loaded and then went on a rampage going through the menus. It didn't freeze once.

I believe it had to do with something plugged into the motherboard (Sound, Ethernet, USB).
So in my situation i can use the bios fine if i just plug in only the keyboard and screen.

I didn't narrow it down to what port was causing the issue,
I'm just happy enough to have it working, so i did my tweaks and exited.

With the bare minimum attached It's a marked improvement from before (In my case anyway).
