Radiator question - Page 2

So for a push/pull setup the fans have to be running the same speed correct? And im guessing air should be pushed out of the case by the bottom fans and top fans pull the air?

It's ideal to have all of your radiators drawing in outside air. If your bottom rad intakes and your top rad exhausts, then your top rad is using warm air that won't dissipate much heat at all.

Your fans can spin at different speeds and it won't have any adverse effect. Ideally you'd want your push fan's CFM to match the CFM of your pull fans but as long as your pull fans aren't restricting your push fans (highly unlikely) then it's ok.

It doesn't matter what speed it's at, what matters is it's max CFM (at the given speeds you are running them)

As long as those are similar it's fine. A lot of people use different fans at different speeds in push/pull, because they want quiet so they use quieter fans for push, and more powerful fans for pull. Since the pull fans are inside the case, it's quieter outside because, assuming your PC case has some sound dampening properties, it's noise can be contained.

As long as the CFM rating at the given speeds you are running them is similar they should be fine. If their CFM is REALLY different the lower rated fan could cause restriction to the more powerful fan tongue.gif

Mind you right now I'm talking solely about whether using different fans will give you problems. You still want to make sure the fans you're using are decent for radiators as to supply sufficient static pressure to deal with restriction , so yeah biggrin.gif
