No no, it's not the gameplay. It's the way the games handle the story, narrative, character development and exposition. That's where the whole "who are the twats and why should I care" question arises from, because everything from FF10-2 onwards has been a downhill ride in the story/character department. All the characters are either annoying or unlikeable at best (especially when they start getting super-emotional in that very peculiar "Japanese teen angst" way) and the story gets quite convoluted and even harder to care about.
If I was to rip on the gameplay I would say it's padded as hell and it seems every FF has been desperately trying to do something different with the combat aspect but never quite nailing anything down.
yeah , i know what u mean , but yeah FFX was the last great game (not gonna count FFXI the most profitable FF in the series , and the best MMO by far , and i hope they put it on the vita someday) , later they picked the ball with FFXII ( my favorite so far since FFX ), dropped it on FFXIII , got it again on FFXIII-2 and hope Lightning returns maintain it , FFXIV so far is good ( im in the beta ) and FFXV as everyone knew , it was the aRPG from the Fabula Nova Cristalis , but now its a standalone game
the story seems intriguing so far
