Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 & i7 3820

Thread Starter
Is the GA-X79-UD3 a good motherboard for overclocking? Can it OC a i7 3820 to 4.5GHz+ with good cooling? Would it also be able to overclock a 3930K to 4.5GHz+?

I don't want to end up with a motherboard that limits overclocking the CPU.

dont get the UD3, the UD line from Gigabyte has been infamous for burning VRMs, and the newer UP series just didnt sell too much. maybe look into the P9X79 or its variants (depending on your budget+needs), I never saw something too negative about it.

What about the Asrock Fatal1ty X79 Professional? I need a X79 mobo with 4x PCI-E slots and good CPU overclocking that doesn't break the bank.
