Which CPU for Asus P5B

The Asus P5B is a socket 775 motherboard with a FSB of 1066/800. Can I use a Core2 Quad that is 1333? Which would be the best for the money?

I dont know any pricing (check the OCN marketplace or fleabay or local 2nd hand stores) but, Asus P5B Site shows that 45nm CPUs are working with this board, so that means everything up to a QX9770 (highest end Core 2 extreme, 4 cores) should be compatible with your board.

Here is the list of compatible CPU's for the P5B. I would get a Q6600 as it can be found for dirt cheap online used. Your system specs are really dated and full of obsolete hardware. Ever thought about upgrading?

Yep, I have thought about upgrading but I have a new I5 laptop and I beleive I can get a couple more years out of that rig. It is a mixture of whats in my sig and one of the others in my profile. I just ordered a couple of SSDs and I will throw in 8GB of ram when I get home. All told I will have about 350 in it and my video card is about a year old and runs the games I need it to run. The latest games I run are Mass Effect 3 and I am thinking about picking up BF3, maybe BF4 when it comes out. Other than that I encode a lot of video and I am just trying to shave a few minutes off of each run.
