Question about gigabyte board

Thread Starter
I just purchased and received a GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC FORCE and it has a built in water block. The problem is the barbs are smaller than the rest of my system.

All my fittings are 1/2", but I am pretty sure the ones on this water block are 1/4"... (I measured since the manual didn't tell me anything.)

Soo... Any ideas on how I should route this so I don't lose too much flow? This is what I was thinking, but I was not sure if it was the best option or not:

obviously the red is 1/2" and the pink is 1/4"

I have plans to add a video card or 2 in the loop at some point, which is why I am a little concerned about this stuff.

Does anyone have any input?

Thanks guys!!!

I dont think its going to matter how you route the loop. The overall flow will move at the pace the smallest path lets it through. Kind of like the old saying "a chain is only as strong as its weakest link." It simply comes down to physics.

Measure the diameter of the barbs again, they look a lot bigger than 1/4", to be honest they look like they might even be 1/2"

If you have the board try putting your tube on one of the fittings and see how it holds. You will probably need clamps.

I can actually take a bitspower compression fitting, and that barb fits INSIDE of it... So its definitely smaller than 1/2"

How about 3/8"? That is a fairly standard size.

If it is 3/8" then you don't need to do anything special, just buy a short length of 3/8" tubing and two 3/8" fittings - run the smaller tube between the mobo block and the components immediately before and after it. You will not lose much in terms of flow. Put it this way - a lot of us use 3/8" tubing through our entire loops, there is little to no difference.
