All that matters for gaming is the per core IPC, which Haswell has in spades. Also, not ALL of them overclock badly, so don't over generalize. With a 3930k, you're lucky to get 4.8, which has a per thread IPC equal to a 4.2-4.3 ghz Haswell. Don't simply spew out the crap people are saying about Haswell. The only bad thing about Haswell is the fact it has such a large range in terms of overclocking. You can get a great chip that'll do 4.8 or you can get one that won't break 4.4.

^ this.

You will WASTE your money with a six core chip unless you are into heavy multimedia / rendering ect. Haswell is a great chip with minor performance increase from ivy that will make you very happy.

If you can see i have a 3770k with 2 gpus and a sb-e with 4 gpus. Do you actually believe that i have a sbe for no reason if i could just buy the 3770k?

I'm not arguing for Haswell for no reason. It's faster than the 3770k and you get the latest tech. Sure, it's probably overkill, but so is everything that gets recommended on here. Recommending the 3930k is wasting the OP's money as well. Basically all I'm trying to argue is that for a gaming build, even with 3 GPUs, a 3930k is a waste of money and will have lower performance (even if it's an insignificant amount, as you say). You don't need to get the firing squad for me giving my opinion. I don't think I'm holding a gun to his head saying, "buy the 4770k or else". Why can't we simply have a discussion like adults?

Do you know what a PLX chip does and how it works and HOW it impacts the performance? Probably no thats why you suggest a ivy/haswell cpu for 3 gpus.

WIth a sbe you will have higher gaming performance with 3 gpus.

I'm starting to think you're not even arguing with me and instead trying to justify your purchase of an LGA 2011 setup. That's fine that you bought one. If I had the expendable income to do so, I would have as well. However, it's like buying a $1000 pair of headphones. When you go to pick out an amp for that pair of headphones, you don't want to go and buy a 100 dollar amp. It doesn't seem right to cheap out. However, there are inexpensive amps that sound exactly the same as much more expensive ones and could do the job just as well. Unfortunately, this is the case with computers as well. Anyway, I'm done here. The OP asked for an opinion. I gave mine, and I have nothing more to say about it.

best 2011 pin .
4770k will do better but you need to delid the chip.

i would go for 4570k but thats me. i like the lower power consumption and @ 4.6 beats a ivy/sb @ 5.2 . but look @ me im on old 930 i7 ht off.. but i like it i just want 6 core or better. and 2011 pin to much $$ so i mite get a 990x to hold me over till ddr4 come about.

Op make up your mind i did not read all post but ya..... water cool your pc and get a 3770k/ 4770k and delid it. you will be happy or you cant be happy @ all.

A 4.6 Haswell beat a ivy/sb at 5.2?

At least on gaming they are the same at the same clocks.
