Computer does not recognise all of ram - Page 2

Thanks for the replys. 1st Angel. I originaly only had 2gb of memory installed when I bilt this rig a few years ago. Now I'm adding another 2gb a total of 4gb alltogether. All memory sticks are from the same manufacture "Super Talent". They are the same part number same speed and run at the same timings. I remove my original RAM and installed just the new ones to see if the BIOS would detect them. It did and at the same speed and timings. I then installed all 4sticks. Windows 8 64bit says there is 4gb installed but only 3gb available.
2nd Dmanstasiu I agree with you that its probaly not the MOBO since CPU-z and Win 8 both see 4gb. No the BIOS only sees 3gb insted of 4gb. I don't understant how CPU-z and Win 8 both see 4gb but the BIOS does not. Also my graphics card is 1gb could that have anything to do with only having 3gb available insted of 4gb? Thanks Jim.

The GPU has it's own RAM, it's apart.

You have me stumped lol. I'd still suggest upgrading motherboard firmware ...

..............huh.

Well first, thanks for setting the record straight. My optimism skewed my ability to read your main post. lachen.gif

I am more concerned about what your BIOS says than what windows wants to say. Take 1 stick of ram and stick it in 1 channel. Boot up and make sure the BIOS read 1GB of ram. Try out each slot to make sure every slot works.

The BIOS is usually a pretty trustworthy system. If it is saying you have less memory than windows is saying. You still have an issue somewhere/somehow.

SOLVED!! After doing some more research I found I had to enable the memory remap feature in the BIOS. After doing this the BIOS now sees all 4gb and Win 8 says 4gb installed and available. biggrin.gif Thank you to everyone who tried to help me. Jim.
